In the world of coffee, precision and durability are paramount. Our journey into coffee scales began with Themis Mini, which was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to create a compact scale that could make every pour more accurate. Enter the Themis Mini — our first step. It was loved for its accuracy and simplicity, but it had its limitations. In the context of pour-over coffee, one finds oneself a bit stretched samll. That's when we asked ourselves: Based on the pain points associated with Mini Scale usage, can we develop a new product that integrates  possessing both  pour-over coffee and espresso coffee scenarios?

Cracking the Toughest Challenge

The idea was simple, but the execution was difficult.
Designing a larger version but still remain the advantages sleek, accurate, and waterproof was no easy feat. The biggest technical challenge was achieving IP67-level water resistance.

Sealing the sensors, while maintaining the design's functionality and affordability, required countless rounds of testing. Our engineers explored multiple waterproofing methods, refined the internal layout, and pushed the limits of structural design. The final solution struck the balance we were aiming for: it was fully waterproof, durable under heavy use, and practical to produce and maintain.
This breakthrough meant that the Themis Ultra Scale could comfortably withstand conditions in environments ranging from busy café bars to a home kitchens, without
worrying about spills, splashes, or steam.

Precision, Durability, Versatility

So what makes the Ultra Scale stand out? It all comes down to three qualities that we refused to compromise on:

Precision: Thanks to optimised sensors, it responds faster and measures more accurately than other scales on the market — essential for achieving the perfect espresso or pour-over.
Durability: IP67 waterproofing, heat-resistant batteries, and corrosion-resistant materials ensure that it can withstand the daily grind.
Versatility: Its large platform can hold everything from beans to portafilters, and its compact design ensures it won't take up too much counter space.

It’s a scale designed to cover every step of the process, from weighing beans to extracting the perfect shot — all in one device.

Why Kickstarter?

When it came to launching the Ultra Scale project, we chose Kickstarter for two reasons. Firstly, it enables us to connect directly with our community. The feedback we’ve already received through surveys and conversations helped to shape the product, and the campaign gives us a opportunity to continue listening before we start mass production.

Secondly, Kickstarter is home to the very people we built the Ultra Scale for: curious, design-conscious individuals passionate about enhancing their daily routines. Kickstarter is more than just a launchpad; it’s a platform that allows us to connect with coffee lovers around the world.

Breakthroughs Big and Small

Countless small victories made the journey to create this product a rewarding one. Our engineers still remember the thrill of seeing the first prototype survive a dishwasher test. Our designers remember the moment the Ultra Scale stole the spotlight at its first exhibition. Perhaps the most symbolic moment of all came was when the team submerged the Ultra Scale in a fish tank for a promotional shoot— an idea that started as a casual joke in a meeting, but which ended up capturing the very essence of what makes the Ultra Scale unique.

To us as a team, the Ultra Scale is more than just a new product — it’s a breakthrough that represents a leap forward in our thinking about coffee brewing tools. We hope that, for our users, it will become the ultimate companion, simplifying their workflow and elevating their daily coffee rituals.

Brew History That Matters

Every cup tells a story.
Some brews help you improve, some bring back memories, and some are just worth recording. From the Mini to Ultra, the Themis series logs your brewing life — because records are valuable, even when you’re not chasing perfection.
