Hi everyone,

Assembly is underway for Motto80 units whose part kits are complete, and the new automated alignment station is now in use. How quickly the rest of the batch can move through assembly still depends on burr coating, end-cap retaining rings, a few parts with dimensional issues, and the surface finishing yield of the main housing.

Where progress slowed last week

Progress on semi-finished units was slower than planned last week. Burr coating and the end-cap retaining-ring process both took longer than expected. A few other parts also needed follow-up after dimensional issues were found, so the steps that depend on them had to wait.

Automated alignment is now on the line

Last week, we put a new automated alignment station into service. It replaces a manual adjustment step with a more controlled process. This gives us more consistent alignment and better repeatability across production units.

We are fine-tuning the station and connecting it to the automated burr calibration process. This work is about 80 to 90% complete. The team plans to finish the remaining tuning on Monday, August 24.

Assembly and main housing yield

The assembly line is running, and units with complete material kits are moving forward. The units shown below are at the firmware flashing and end-of-line calibration stages.

Surface finishing yield on the main housing remains the primary constraint for complete unit throughput. We are working directly with the supplier to refine the process. Yield is improving, but we do not consider the issue resolved yet.

The factory is working toward completing assembly and testing for the first units next week, but that depends on the remaining materials being in place.

First-batch dispatch

We now expect the first batch to ship a few days later than the August 25 estimate shared in July. The revised date is not confirmed yet.

Our current target is to begin dispatching the first batch next week. That depends on the remaining parts arriving and passing inspection, main housing yield holding steady, and each unit completing assembly and testing. We will confirm the new dispatch date once those points are settled.

We will post the next update after Monday's equipment tuning and the next round of assembly and testing.
